Thanks for sharing your tips and information!

  2. Thanks for sharing this tool. I truly don’t understand Twitter that much and not even sure that everyone I follow should follow me back or vica versa, so this tool scares me a little bit. If someone follows me because they want to know more about relationships, yet their twitter is about sports equipment, why would I want to follow them back? And if I don’t, should they automatically unfollow me? This only makes sense if you’re trying to build “numbers” instead of connections and providing service. Perhaps you can explain it more to me?
    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hi Adam,

Your question demonstrates you know more about Twitter than you think. :-)

Yes some people do use this simply for “building numbers”.

You can be very selective in who you unfollow, personally one of the criteria I use to unfollow someone
is that they have not been active on Twitter for a month.

Yes you may not want to automatically unfollow everyone but as you build your presence on Twitter
you will find the people you do not want to follow.

I am doing a free teleseminar on Twitter next week, come back to the blog for details.
It will help you to “Finally Figure Out Twitter”

  4. Hi Carla
Thanks for this, am now a ‘member’ of tweepie but will be selective on who I follow back as per Adams same thoughts. Looks like a handy application – thanks.

Carla, this is such necessary info to get out to the masses.
I love Tweepi because it allows us to see at a glance who is not following us and when they last posted. If it’s been months since they socialized on Twitter then it doesn’t hurt so bad to unfollow. :) It’s quick, easy and a great tool! It makes it easy for us to open up more space to follow other Twitterers.
    Thank you! Great video!

  7. Carla McNeil says:

Yes it definitely makes room to follow Twitterers who are active!

I am sometimes very surprised who shows up as not having Tweeted for more than 30 days.

Just a couple of weeks ago it was the two guys who first introduced me to the power of Twitter!!

  8. Carla McNeil says:

So agree Jodi, it is much more fun connecting and conversing with people.

Let’s let the tools do as much of the “grunt” work as possible.

  9. Carla McNeil says:

Yes Belinda, I have found it to be quite handy.

Being selective on who you follow back is important.

I love the fact that you can see their pictures too, I also unfollow people who can’t be bothered to put up a picture.

  10. I don’t mind the people that don’t follow me back… as long as they have something interesting to say. What I don’t like is people that don’t post for months and months.

I use Untweeps. It lets me choose to unfollow anyone that hasn’t posted in any time frame I choose (i.e. 2 months)

Thanks for another great resource Debbie! I will test that one out too!

  12. I had a look at Tweepi a few months ago and it certainly is a feature packed app. I’m in two minds about unfollowing people who don’t follow me – there have been times when I’ve found interesting links on Twitter from people who I can’t even remember following.

I think I’ll have another look at Tweepi in the coming weeks and do some more weeding out!

  13. Carla McNeil says:

Caroline there will come a point on Twitter where if you do not unfollow a bunch of people you will not be able to follow anyone new.

Personally I wavered on this one for quite a while, now I unfollow on a regular basis. However my two main criteria for unfollowing are no picture & it looks like they have been around for a while. AND not posted in the last 30 days.

    What are your criteria?
