Baby Boomer Business – Can Twitter Search Target Your Social Media Marketing?

By

Many people who use Twitter do not understand the power of the “Search”. It is one of the most under utilized functions of Twitter. Did you know that you can gain knowledge about your target market for free by knowing how to find the right information from Twitter?

  • The great feature of Twitter is that the results are in real time.  It is one of the most fluid platforms out there.  Many broadcast companies today check Twitter for the most up to date information.
  • Start using hashtags (#) before the keywords in your posts.  This will make it easier for other people to find you as well.  It is a very good habit to create, but do not use so many that your Tweets are just a string of hashtags.  Here is an example I found that is challenging to read because there are so many hashtags. “#Social #Media #Strategy: Are You #Marketing or #Communicating?”
  • Tapping into Twitter’s market analysis potential is one of the keys to your success.  It is how you will be able to find people who are looking for your product or service.
  • Once you have completed a search read through the targeted tweets you’ve uncovered and locate potential partners or customers.  Keep these people on a list so that you can watch and RT their tweets.
  • Once you have their attention you can reply to their posts that first attracted your attention, or you can send them a short direct message. The direct message is less invasive since the results don’t get posted on their profile.  However because of so many spam direct messages a lot of people do not read them.  You decide which method you prefer.  Keep your greeting friendly and always leave enough room to include a link to your website or blog.

You want to be sure to incorporate these 3 traits in as many of your tweets as possible…

1. Connect Emotionally
2. Be Creative
3. Make Every Character Count

Is all of this too much to incorportate into your already busy day?  Thinkin’ if yet “another thing” gets added to your plate you are going to scream?  Let us take the pressure off…
