5 Benefits for You to Get Started on Pinterest

5 Benefits for You to Get Started on Pinterest

Pinterest has certainly caught my attention, how about you?  I have 5 benefits for you to get started on Pinterest, ponder “What fits for you?”

I hear many people say that’s there just isn’t enough time in the day to build a consistent presence on all of these platforms. I couldn’t agree more, that’s why you need to understand the benefits of Pinterest so that you can make that informed decision about where to invest your time on a daily and/or weekly basis.

1) It is a very simple platform for building relationships and learning how to influence people.  Sharing your likes allows people to get to know you and build the know, like and trust factor.

2) You can increase your reach by strategically following  the movers and shakers in your niche.  Find them, get to know them and create pins that will attract their attention.

3) It is easy to brand on Pinterest for bigger exposure.  Take a look at what some of the big companies are doing, you can adapt their techniques to your own Pinterest boards.  Check out the Starbucks example

4) Connecting other social media profiles with Pinterest.  They have made it super simple, you can sign in with either Facebook or Twitter.  You can also automatically post to either of the platforms.  I love to share all my “pins” on Twitter.

5) You can encourage liking and commenting on your pins and boards!  Find out what people’s interests are, then you can easily have people active on your boards.  I love my dogs and on a very regular basis pin stories from the Animal Rescue Site.  They are heart warming pet rescue stories and they are often re-pinned and commented on.

    Hi Carla,

Nice post about Pinterest. This is indeed, the next big thing in social media right now. What makes Pinterest really interesting is that, it allows you to say something with the use of images and videos, and we all know how effective wonderful images and videos in catching people’s attention. This would be the best platform backup aside from FB, and Twitter, people can share everything, and entrepreneurs can easily advertise their products/services with categorized boards.

  2. Hi Carla,
OK, you have my attention now! It is time to put some of my effort into Pinterest. Your comment about Branding got my attention. I will check out the brands and see what they are doing. I am currently considering moving from a written blog into a video driven blog so I could combine this well with photos.

    Hi Carla!

I know what you mean about not having enough time to keep up with all your profiles! Pinterest certainly is the coolest however, and one to pay strict attention to! I am starting to go there more and more often, as well as Instagram.
I will have to start pinning in my niche and create some more specific boards to my audience. I have done that, but I think if we narrow it down, we can capture even more of a finite group of eyeballs.

  6. Ok Carla you have peaked my interest. I find it confusing and overwhelming at times with the shear amount of social media platforms. Pininterst has been one of the most confusing. I started an account and put up some pictures of my dogs. Within a day, people were pinning things on my site. Thanks for keeping on top of these things so I can learn them at my own leisure.

  7. Carla…nice post about Pinterest. I am having a blast with Pinterest. It is a super simple platform to launch your branding. Many people are more visual and that is where Pinterest really rocks. I also like the way it integrates with other social media platforms. Thanks for this post!

  8. Great points and I wholeheartedly agree with you Carla! I love Pinterest. As an artist it’s like a kid in a candy store for me – but I’ve also met some terrific people and have been greatly encouraged by the interaction. And speaking of – love the stuff you are pinning. Way to go girl!

  12. Pinterest certainly has a place in your Social Media strategy, but, as you point out, Carla, you can’t over-involve yourself in every platform that exists.

Some people try that approach, and it only dilutes their overall effort to develop a credible brand and following.

It’s far better to focus on fewer strategies and do them well, than to dabble in too many of them (I know I’ve fallen into that trap from time to time).

Pinterest is an excellent platform for visual media, and to engage people where visual material is most suitable.

And, as you point out, Carla, it probably requires a lot less time than other platforms, once you’ve created a clear strategy for using it.

  13. Hi Carla, I was just reading elsewhere about Pinterest, I think it’s a fabulous social media site. It’s so different from all the others, and I love the images.

And, like you say Carla, they’ve made it really easy to connect with other social media sites. I like the way your “pins” go to facebook also (if you want them to).

Thanks for these 5 tips, very useful! Now I’m off to look at your Pinboards Regards from Julieanne

You’ve given me a couple of ideas about Pinterest. I think I like it better than Twitter. It is so hard to be everywhere, everyday. Don’t think I’m going to try. I get to leave the office early today! Whoo Hoo!

  17. Hi Carla,
Thanks for clarifying these topics about Pinterest. I first went into it like crazy and then slacked off.
Your article has inspired me to get back in the game.

It is so funny but two of my pins got me the most friends. One was shoes and the other was an antique toy. Each day, I get notifications that people are liking them and have followed me. Hmmm

After reading this Carla, I know it is time to get more serious about it.

    Thanks so much

  18. Carla,
I have been really enjoying Pinterest. Yes, it does take time away from other work but it also has brought me some incredible connections. And it is so much fun to share boards with like minded colleagues. It feels as if I am putting my own special blueprint into cyberspace, connecting so many of my scattered online pieces in one place.

    Hi Carla,
I am new to Pinterest so your ideas on how to use it are very helpful. So far I really like what I see when I actually visit there to pin something. I’m slow in getting it set up and interesting, partly because I am trying to pin what I love. 🙂

I guess we all need to think about investing some due diligence in this area. There are so many platforms that do the same job as to strengthen your brand. Just narrowing it down to key locations is the hurdle.

I love this article and has given me motivation to see how it could increase our group’s communication. Spending too much time is what allot of people jumping around will end up doing if they do not think first and compare what is best for them.

Love having you give this reader knowledge to put action behind to make it power.
