Secret Benefits of Facebook Live That will Surprise You

By

Facebook Live has only been around for 1+ years and there are still some secret benefits of Facebook Live that will surprise you. Working with Facebook Live and the research for this blog post surprised me.  I trust you will be pleasantly surprised too.

Totally Unique Content

Once you go live for the first time you are creating content that no one else can create.  It’s your voice, flavour and definitely your ideas and suggestions.  Even when you share a product or service from another business you stamp it with your individual perspective. We all know that Google loves content and creating a Facebook Live is definitely a quick and easy way to make that happen. Think of it, write a blog post such as this one; I invest at least 6 hours in each post plus having someone on my team create graphic and do the initial research.  Compare that to a 15 minute Facebook Live.  Which would you rather do?

Creates More Excitement

I watched my friend and business partner Nilofer Safdar create such a fun and participative event on her “Clutter” Facebook Live Event that she had me laughing, participating and “giving her hearts” for the entire length of her live event.  When people know you are there live supporting them,  providing feedback and answering their questions they actually “show up”, both physically and mentally.  I absolutely love the way she asks for some hearts! She really knows how to generate excitement. Nilofer actually opened up more “Secret Benefits of Facebook Live That will Surprise You” for me.

Very Cost Effective

If you don’t add any supporting programs, (you definitely don’t have to) it’s Free. What more can I say?

There are tons of programs out there that claim to be able to send you lots of leads for a low price.  I’ve tested a few of them, they didn’t work for me.  Facebook Live is different because you have so much control.  You can do as many or as few as you like and the cost will still be the same. 🙂  Once you get yourself dialed in you won’t want to use any other strategy.

Fabulous Audience Engagement

This really is a key point, in my opinion, of Facebook Live.  There are so many recorded webinars out there that are attempting to look like they are live it has put a bit of a damper on watching webinars for me unless I know for sure they are live. You can ask your audience questions and have them respond in the comment section under the video.  They can comment just like they would on any normal Facebook post.  Everyone who is watching the Facebook Live can see all the comments and answers. Think about that for a second…

We all know that Facebook gives us love for our posts that have lots of Likes, Comments and Shares.  Just think about the effect it would have on your Facebook Page or Group if when you first do a Live you receive 50 – 100 interactions.  Are you smiling now?

Even More free traffic to your Facebook page

Facebook will send notifications to “People who frequently engage with or have recently interacted with a person or Page going Live may receive a notification.” This makes it much easier to quickly attract new people from the built in Facebook audience.

Facebook has recently made a small update, Facebook Live videos will be more likely to appear much higher in the newsfeed, but only when they are actually live.  Which of course means more people will see your Live presentation and have the opportunity to join.

Ability to Download and Use Elsewhere (my favourite)

I created a video a while back demonstrating how to download and save your Facebook Live video.  My favourite strategy is once the video is downloaded I then have it uploaded to the YouTube channel.  You can then use the video anywhere you would use a YouTube video.  Examples: optin page, sales page, Twitter, Reddit, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, FourSquare, SnapChat, WhatsApp, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Digg, and many, many more.  The whole idea is getting your content out there in front of as many eyes as possible.

Available for Future Viewing

Once your Live video is complete that is not the end of the story.  The video will be available for future viewing

I love the fact that they stay with your page, group or profile; where ever you recorded them.  This means you will be able to use them for years to come.  You will be able to copy the link to the specific video and share it in as many ways as you can think of.  My favourite strategy is to do 3 – 5 Facebook Live videos and then bundle them together for use as a lead magnet.  This does take a bit of up front planning, however depending upon your specific content you could reap the benefits for years to come.

Remember the Chewbacca Mom? Here’s the link straight from Facebook  https://www.facebook.com/1075WKZL/videos/10154184822637641/

Of course I had to watch it again and laughed all over again!!  Remember it’s the simple joys!

Notifications Sent by Facebook! (surprised me the most)

Facebook will send notifications to “People who frequently engage with or have recently interacted with a person or Page going Live may receive a notification.”  Not necessary to email people (although I still recommend you build your list), you can actually retarget the people who come to your page and watch the Facebook Live Videos.
