Pinterest, Scrapbooking on Steroids

Pinterest caught my interest about two months ago.  I have been a scrapbooker for years but lately as I really concentrate on building the business I have not had much time to complete any of my scrapbook projects.

Then along came Pinterest.  Personally I love it!

Go to Pinterest.com and request an invite, it may take a few days to receive your invitation but it will come.

Pinterest Invitation

“Pinterest is a virtual pinboard to organize and share the things you love.”

Pinterest consists of “Boards” similar to bulletin boards where you post pictures of things that interest you, like, have a passion for, helps your business and many many more reasons.

Once your invitation arrives get in there and set up your boards. You don’t have to set them all up right away, new ideas will come to you as you see the “pins” of others. The basics they provide are an excellent way to get started.

I have found the easiest way to pin is to install the “Pin it” button on my tool bar. Here is a video that shows you just how to do that;

If you’re like me and use Firefox here is that version too;

Once you have the button so nice and hand right up there on the toolbar it makes it so quick and easy to share the content your find interesting, worthwhile and or funny!

Be sure to add the Pinterest buttons to your website, that way people can easily share your great information!

Happy Pinning & once you’re on please do connect with me Carla On Pinterest

  1. Hi Carla,
I am sure Pinterest is an excellent program but at the moment I just don’t have the time to work it.
I feel it better to spend the quality time with a few programs rather than trying to do too much and loose it all.

    Thanks for sharing.
    Cheers

  2. Another excellent tutorial Carla – kudos to your creativity when it comes to article titles! I love Pinterest, but it is something you need to keep up with. I’ve been focused on publishing with Amazon the past couple of weeks so pretty much everything else except my blog was set aside. Looking forward to playing catch up – and your post has given me a couple of ideas. Thanks!

  3. Hi Carla. I’m back in TSA, and I’ve appreciated your being so good about RTs on Twitter. This is a great tutorial. I’m on Pinterest and find it to be fun. I wonder if it will ever be a way to make money. I have seen some music teachers really load up on their music stuff. I’m going to try some affiliate marketing stuff, as that is my new part-time endeavor. Be interested to see how it works.

    All the best,

    Carla,

I joined Pinterest when I found out it was larger than LinkedIn in popularity. Now I haven’t done much with it and will post some pic and blog entries. I think I understand Pinterest better than I understand Twitter. LOL!

Hi Carla, we are already following each other on Pinterest. I enjoy sharing my business information but also have fun every now and then sharing some of my personal favorites.

You shared a really good step by step way to get onto Pinterest and adding that button to your website is a good tip as well.

I also noticed that your Mentor board included Loral Langemeir who I met over 9 years ago and she was a tremendous factor in my success. Her Cash Machine Workshops are the best!

    Hi Carla,

I must admit that I am another one that has joined Pinterest but not done much with it. It looks great for personal and business but at the moment I have too much going on to get stuck in. I do have the Google Chrome extension for Pinterest, I just need to get more into the habit of using it.

    Thanks for the tutorials.

    Hey Carla,

Looks like I’m with the majority of your friends and readers here … I have joined Pinterest not too long ago but I have not started using it to any degree. With the huge changes in Facebook’s new timeline I need to focus my attention on Facebook, updating my profile and pages to better fit into it’s current format.

The growth and Back Linking power of Pinterest can be amazing for all those you use it correctly and on a consistent basis.

Thanks so much for sharing Carla.

  10. Thanks for the explaination Carla. I was invited several months ago. I set up a few board and kind of just left it alone. When I returned all these pictures were on my site, ugh? Not much of a picture taker but I am learning to get more involved with taking images and posting them there.

  11. Thanks for explaining Pinterest, Carla! I watched a webinar on using it for business, and learned a few things there. I joined, but haven’t done anything with it either. I will be, because I like the concept and see it has great possibilities.

  12. Carla,
I joined Pinterest about 2 months ago and I must admit, I have become sort of a Pinterest addict. It is so much fun to create and fill up my boards. My first and favorite board is called “Wonders of the World.” Every time I look at that board and add to it, I feel as though I have actually travelled to the most exotic and breathtaking places in the world. And then I added the board, “Why do we love animals so much?” I have found images of so many different kinds of animals, and each species has its own way of loving and nurturing its young and its partners. And then I realized I can also display my own work, my blogs and articles and kindle books and I just keep adding to it.

The best part is when people I already know from another context keep repinning pins from specific boards. We are creating an immediate bond through similar likes.

    Warmly,

  13. Carla, I love Pinterest! It’s so much fun to see what everyone is pinning and the vivid colors really catch my eye. Since I’m a holistic chef it’s really great to pin up my recipes, share other people’s recipes, and see what all the other foodies are pinning. I don’t know if it will increase my business but it’s something that I truly enjoy. Thanks for sharing the video on how to add it to my toolbar.
    Best,
