When I first read this article I thought YAHOO!!  More and more business are encouraging the younger generation to get started in entrepreneur ship, it is very exciting.  Today there are so many people who are just scraping by, had they had knowledge and support like this when they were younger I am sure it would be a different story for them today.

Organic Beverage Company Promotes The Success Of Austin Youth In Annual Event

PR Log (Press Release)Apr 19, 2010 – Austin, Texas (April 19, 2010) – Sweet Leaf Tea, a producer of organic, southern-style iced teas and beverages, is doing its part to turn today’s youth into the successful entrepreneurs of tomorrow through its participation in the annual nationwide event, Lemonade Day. Occurring on May 2nd  in 12 cities across the nation, Lemonade Day is an event dedicated to teaching children some of the necessary skills for a bright future.

Organized by Prepared 4 Life, a non-profit dedicated to empowering youth to be contributing members of society, Lemonade Day teaches children the basics of building a business by having them create their own lemonade stand and unique lemonade flavors. Sweet Leaf Tea is playing an active role in this year’s festivities and will be sponsoring several smaller fundraisers and contests in addition to the main event. The tea company will donate beverages for registration events and the Best Tasting Lemonade Contest on April 25th. Charla Adams, Communications Manager for Sweet Leaf Tea will be a judge in the contest, bestowing the winner of the “Most Interesting Lemonade Flavor” with a custom Sweet Leaf Tea Award, a hefty supply of drinks and a “Sweeten Your Stand” opportunity which involves a high-traffic spot and promotional support from Sweet Leaf Tea-mates to help boost the winner’s lemonade stand sales.

“Sweet Leaf Tea’s story is a testament to the fact that entrepreneurship and hard work can truly pay off, even starting from something as small as a lemonade stand, or in our case a homemade sweet tea recipe” said Sweet Leaf Tea Co-Founder and VP of Sales David Smith. “We think it is of the utmost importance that today’s youth learn the skills necessary to be successful in the future and we are very excited and proud to be participating in Lemonade Day.”

Lemonade Day is open to youth of all ages (with adult supervision) and is free of charge. Each of the cities participating in Lemonade Day will take part in three major contests: Best Tasting Lemonade, Best Lemonade Stand, and Best Business. Most families would enjoy the peace of mind of having multiple streams of income. Reliance on social security exclusively is a sentence of poverty! Long live entrepreneurs!
